Questions and fixes

How do I restore purchases?

EastLanguage 1.0 is free and has no purchases, so there’s nothing to restore. Optional language packs are planned; when they arrive, a Restore purchases button will be in the app.

Will my progress move to a new iPhone?

EastLanguage doesn’t sync, and it has no account. Your progress is stored only on your device. If you set up a new iPhone or iPad from a backup of your old one, your progress may come across with it, because iOS backups can include app data. Setting up as a new device starts EastLanguage fresh.

What permissions does it need?

None of the sensitive ones. EastLanguage 1.0 doesn’t ask for your microphone, camera, photos, contacts or location, and it works without an internet connection.

How do I add the widget?

  • Press and hold an empty spot on your Home Screen until the icons jiggle.
  • Tap Edit, then Add Widget, and search for EastLanguage.
  • Choose the small or medium size and tap Add Widget.

If the widget looks empty, open EastLanguage once and pick a language. The widget reads your progress from the app on the same device.

Can I hear the words?

Not in this version. Recorded audio isn’t included yet.

Where are Nigeria, Ghana and Morocco?

They’re coming. On the atlas they’re drawn dashed, which means not yet. There are no dates yet.

Delete your data

Everything EastLanguage stores lives on your device. To erase it, delete the app: press and hold its icon, tap Remove App, then Delete App. Your progress and the widget’s copy go with it. We hold nothing about you, so there’s nothing else to delete.
